Ukrainian universities won 35 new Jean Monnet European integration projects within EUs Erasmus+ Programme

The results of the Jean Monnet 2024 Calls for Proposals were communicated by the European Commission and European Education and Culture Executive Agency. Out of 578 submitted projects with the participation of Ukraine, 35 Jean Monnet projects have been selected for funding: 32 Modules, 1Chairs and 2Center of Excellence. EU grant co-funding projects with Ukraine amounts to EUR1 270 012,6.

Jean Monnet Actions focus on teaching, learning, research, and debates on various aspects of the European Union and EU integration aimed to empower a new generation of European integrators from the academic sphere who will support Ukraine on its recovery and transformationpath.

New projects will cover a variety of topics, including Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, Science and Innovation, Inclusive and Veterans Entrepreneurship, Ukraine's Post-War Recovery and European Values of Solidarity Economy, Resilience and Growth, Democracy and Multilevel Governance, Digitalisation and Migration, Standards of Journalistic, European Green, Dealand other.

This year22 higher education institutionsfrom Dnipro, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Kyiv, Odesa, Rivne, Sumy, Lviv, Ternopil, Zaporizhzhia will start the implementation of new Jean Monet projects and their research and teaching of European Studies. It is important that 5 newcomers joined Jean Monnet Community of 2021-2024 representing Lutsk National Technical University, Mariupol State University (displaced), Odesа Polytechnic National University, Rivne State University of Humanities, Ukrainian Catholic University. Among this year winners, there are TOP-4 Universities who received a number of Jean Monnet projects: V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University with Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy (5 projects), Sumy State University, Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University (per 3 projects).

The interest to and need in the European studies in Ukraine is huge and continue growing during the Negotiation Stage of Accession of Ukraine to EU and during martial law time. Thus in the period 2014-2023 calls, Ukrainian institutions applied with 1192 proposals and the European Commission funded 342 projects: 279 Modules, 29 Chairs and 9 Centres of Excellence, 10 Projects, 7 Networks and 8 Support for Associations activities. 130 organisations from all over Ukraine including 118 Higher Education Institutions, plus research institutions, professional networks and NGOs have been working on the implementation of the European Integration home task of Ukraine.
