Register of Deeds Office closes early due to global tech shutdown

The Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds Office reports that its electronic recording of documents has been halted by the global tech outage that has shut down airports, banks, and other institutions. Register of Deeds Karen Johnson announced this afternoon that the office is closing at 2:30 p.m. today.

Microsoft says a fix of the underlying issue with its Windows operating system has been deployed, but many users are not yet operational. The Register of Deeds Office has been unable to record deeds and other documents, and customers have been unable to access the e-recording system online.

"We are working with Metro IT and our partners at Business Information Systems to get our system working again, but it appears that we will not have the issue resolved this afternoon," Johnson said. "We are closing the office at 2:30 p.m. today, and we expect to be back up and running from 8 a.m-4 p.m. Monday during our regular hours."
