AISI Welcomes New Board Members

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) this week welcomed two new board members, Neil Tannyan, USA regional manager, iron and steel at Hatch,and Doug Dunworth, president and chief executive officer for the Americas region at SMS group. Both Tannyan and Dunworth represent associate member companies on the AISI Board of Directors and Tannyan also serves as the chairman of the AISI Associate Member Committee.

"I am proud to welcome Neil and Doug to the AISI Board of Directors. Their expertise and work with the Associate Member Committee will bring new and exciting insights to our board of directors. I look forward to working with them, and the dedicated AISI associate members, to keep driving the Institute forward and promote the message of the American steel industry to policymakers, customers, the supply chain and other stakeholders," said Kevin Dempsey, AISI president and CEO.

Tannyan joined Hatch in 2008 as a project manager. He has over 20 years of experience as a metallurgist and an extensive background in planning and managing major capital projects in the iron and steel industry.In 2021, he was promoted to his current role as USA regional manager, iron and steel. Before joining Hatch, Neil worked at Stelco, Hilton Works as an area manager of pickling and cold rolling operations. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Applied Science degrees in materials engineering from the University of Toronto.

Dunworth is currently serving as the president and chief executive officer for the Americas region for SMS group. Doug has previously held similar positions at SMS Technical Services and SMS Millcraft LLC. His career includes significant management positions at Acutus Gladwin, Birmingham Steel and WCI Steel, where his responsibilities ranged from operations management to engineering oversight. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering technology and an Associate of Science degree in electrical engineering technology from Penn State University.
