Hickenlooper, Bennet Welcome $9.7 Million for Colorado Airports

Funding comes after Colorado airports received another $10 million from the Federal Aviation Administration in July, on top of $400 million already delivered from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investments are helping Colorado airports improve safety and repair critical infrastructure

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet celebrated $9.7 million in new funding from the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for infrastructure improvements at seven Colorado airports.

This funding comes on the heels of the over $10 million for 16 Colorado airports the FAA announced earlier this month. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has provided over $400 million to airports across the state since being signed into law.

"Colorado's airports are a lifeline to rural communities," said Hickenlooper."Our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is repairing roads and runways at airports across the state to keep those communities connected."

"I'm grateful DOT is supporting Colorado's airports as they work to meet our state's changing needs," said Bennet. "These dollars will help improve safety and capacity so our airports can better connect our communities and fuel our economy."

The investments are funded through the FAA's AIP, which delivers funding for airports nationwide to improve runways, taxiways, and airport signage, lighting, marking, and facilities. The Airport Improvement Program receives funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Hickenlooper helped negotiate.
