Annual American Indian Crafts Day to be held Dec. 7

NATCHITOCHES - The Annual American Indian Crafts Day will be held at Northwestern State University on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Williamson Museum in Room 208 of Kyser Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. The event is held each year on the same day as the Natchitoches Christmas Festival.

According to NSU Professor of Anthropology Dr. Pete Gregory, craftspeople from throughout the region will display, demonstrate and sell their arts and crafts. Basketry, file', beadwork, drums, leatherwork, wood carving and other handmade items will be for sale. Craftspeople are expected from several Louisiana tribes.

American Indian Crafts Day is sponsored by the School of Social Sciences and Applied Programs, the American Indian Studies Program, the Williamson Museum and the Native American Student Association. For more information, contact Gregory at [email protected].
