Fire Department works to recruit at Georgia National Fair

Our Fire Department represented Macon-Bibb County well at this year's Georgia National Fair as they worked to inform fair goers about the available opportunities to protect our community.

Our Class One Department, the only in Middle Georgia and first in the state, is hiring and looking for the best. You can apply here.

"One of the largest challenges facing the fire service today is retention and recruitment of firefighters. This is just another way to recruit future firefighters to come join our Class 1 Team," said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. "We have met many young prospects at the Georgia National Fair in Perry. We're looking forward to hiring our next class of firefighters. Thank you for visiting us at the fair."

Firefighters also gave out information for fire safety education and fire helmets to children. They also had some fun by letting visitors try on firefighter turnout gear.
