Police are investigating several break and enters in downtown Whitehorse

Several break and enters that occurred over the night of July 17, 2024 have been reported to Whitehorse Detachment RCMP. Whitehorse Detachment officers, the Whitehorse General Investigative Section and the Yukon RCMP Forensic Identification Section are actively investigating break and enters at three restaurants, Kita Japanese Kitchen + Bar, and Pickapeppa, both located on 2nd Avenue, and at the Farm and Social located on Ogilvie Street. These businesses had doors and a window smashed out to gain entry. The investigations are ongoing, including, determining what may have been stolen. The break and enter at Pickapeppa occurred at approximately 11 pm, police responded to a call for service at this time and did not locate the perpetrator.

Police responded to a call for service due to loud noises and vehicles revving engines at Capital Towing's compound in the industrial area. Two vehicles were stolen from Capital Towing's compound at approximately 4:00 am. Both are described as white Ford F150s, one had a black canopy on it. The City of Whitehorse's compound on Tlingit Street was also accessed. If you see vehicles matching these descriptions, do not approach them, contact police.

It is not known at this time if these incidents are connected, that is certainly something that would be considered and part of the investigation.

Police are asking the public to contact them if they have any information that might be connected to these incidents. Should anyone have dash camera footage and were in the downtown area from 7 pm until 8 am, particularly around the time frames of 11 pm and 4 am, please view your footage to see if there may be anything recorded of a suspicious nature.
