Update: Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5203 Ridgestone Lane

August 21, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman at 5203 Ridgestone Lane about 4:10 p.m. on Monday (August 19).

The suspect, David Morales-Barrera, 43, is charged with murder in the 434th District Court in Fort Bend County. A booking photo of Morales-Barrera is not available as he remains hospitalized at this time.

The identity of the victim, 44, is pending verification by the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner's Office.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Michon and C. Davidson reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an assault-in progress call at a residence at the above address. A family member told officers a man and woman inside the residence needed help.

Officers made entry and found the woman and the suspect in a back bedroom. The woman had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and the suspect had suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were transported via Life Flight helicopter to the hospital where the woman was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Morales-Barrera. The Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office was contacted and a murder charge was filed. Morales-Barrera remains hospitalized and in police custody.
