UFMG hosts Brazilian Jean Monnet Annual Meeting and celebrates 10 years of EU Studies

The annual meeting of the Brazilian Jean Monnet Network was successfully held on 16 October at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), bringing together programme coordinators to discuss ongoing projects, share best practices and explore future opportunities for cooperation under the Erasmus+ programme. The event was attended by the EU Ambassador to Brazil, Marian Schuegraf, and the Programme Officer of the EU Delegation to Brazil, Stephanie Horel, who provided important insights to the discussions.

In the 2024 edition, the meeting had a special significance as it celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Jean Monnet activities at the Law Faculty of the UFMG. Over the past decade, these initiatives have made a significant contribution to academic excellence and have promoted a deeper understanding of EU studies in Brazil.

Ambassador Marian Schuegraf underlined the importance of EU studies and the role of Jean Monnet initiatives in promoting international cooperation and academic excellence. Her presence underscored the EU's commitment to supporting and promoting educational and cultural links between Europe and Brazil.

The Jean Monnet Annual Meeting is a prestigious event that celebrates and promotes the work of Jean Monnet Chairs, Modules and Centres of Excellence. This year's event provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among participants dedicated to deepening the understanding of European integration and EU-related topics such as sustainability, innovation and public policies in the context of EU-Latin America relations.

The event also facilitated networking opportunities, allowing participants to build connections, share best practices and establish new partnerships. This aspect of the event was particularly valuable in fostering a collaborative and supportive Jean Monnet community.
