How ACP Members Can Support Hurricane Helene Recovery and Aid Efforts

In the wake of the devastation from Hurricane Helene, ACP is communicating with our members and regional chapter leadership in the affected areas and will provide any support and resources we can during this difficult time.

Ways to help those affected by the hurricane

United Way of North Carolina has set up a relief fund for the affected areas to respond to urgent requests and continue to meet need in the coming weeks.

NC Natural Disaster Relief Fund is collecting and will make distributions to help with the unmet needs of hurricane victims.

Tennessee

The following local organizations are among those supplying essential aid in the region:

Water Mission | Clean water supply and Sanitation; developing, implementing, and sharing best-in-class safe water solutions

Heart to Heart International | Community health care and Disasters and emergency management

Second Harvest East Tennessee; helping through food banks, donations and other outreach

East Tennessee Foundation: Neighbor to Neighbor Disaster Relief Fund

Florida

The International NGO Disaster Accountability Project, based in Washington, DC directs donors to local relief organizations worldwide based on the disaster. This organization volunteers have created a page on their flagship product, Smart Response, for Hurricane Helene to direct visitors to local organizations who do work on the ground in communities affected (bypassing large mega charities like the American Red Cross) to ensure maximum donations go to the beneficiaries. Donations can be directed to the Hurricane Helene southeast region or to Florida specifically.

General aid organizations

The Red Cross is mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to offer aid in the situation on the ground. Donations can be made directly through the Red Cross web site.

Americares is responding to the urgent medical needs in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Donations help rapidly deliver medicine, supplies and emergency funding.
