Womack's leadership shines through her role as Coordinator for the Fire Rescue STEAM Learning Program in Murfreesboro City Schools, which educates over 1,200 children annually. She also developed the curriculum for the Teen Fire Academy and Citizens Fire Academy, which are celebrated as highly successful community engagement initiatives.

Beyond her role at MFRD, Womack serves on the City of Murfreesboro Electric Board and the Tennessee Advisory Committee on Arson Board. She is vice president of the Tennessee Fire Safety Inspections Association.

"Congratulations, Shan Womack, on this well-deserved Firefighter of the Year recognition," McCluskey said. "Your dedication to fire safety, public education, and community service embodies the highest standards of the Murfreesboro Fire Department."
