Voter registration deadline nears for Johnson County voters

As the Aug. 6 primary election nears, the Johnson County Election Office urges voters to be aware of the upcoming voter registration deadline.

"It is very important for Johnson County voters to be aware of this deadline to ensure all eligible residents have the opportunity to make their voice heard," Johnson County Election Commissioner Fred Sherman said.

The deadline to register to vote or update voter registration information is Tuesday, July 16. Voters with a valid Kansas driver's license can complete a voter registration form online or print the application and submit it by email, text, or by mail or personal delivery to the Johnson County Election Office at 2101 E. Kansas City Rd. in Olathe. More information can be found at jocoelection.org/registration.

The requirements to be eligible to register to vote are being a United States citizen, a Johnson County resident, and 18 years old on or before Election Day.

Current Johnson County voters are encouraged to review their voter registration information at jocoelection.org/VoterView. While voters can update their name and address before the July 16 deadline, the deadline to change political affiliation has passed. Registrants who are not affiliated with a party can choose a party at the time of voting pursuant to K.S.A 25-3301.

Individuals should call the Johnson County Election Office at (913)-715-6800 for more information or assistance with voter registration.
