Kunshan boasts more smart workshops

The 2024 lists of provincial-level smart manufacturing workshops in Jiangsu and municipal-level smart workshops in Suzhou were released recently. Kunshan, a county-level city under the administration of Suzhou, has 48 enterprises selected as provincial-level smart manufacturing workshops and 42 as municipal-level smart workshops, ranking first among county-level cities (districts) in Jiangsu Province and in Suzhou City respectively.

Smart workshops leverage advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence to achieve the intelligent management of the production process, emphasizing automation, digitalization, and flexibility. This time, the selected enterprises in Kunshan cover a variety of fields such as electronic information, equipment manufacturing, new energy and new materials.

As a strong manufacturing city, Kunshan has more than 2,700 industrial enterprises above designated size, which provide solid support for the optimization and upgrading of the industrial system. Now, the city has a total of 165 provincial-level smart workshops, 190 municipal-level smart workshops, 10 provincial-level smart factories, and 4 national-level smart factories with excellent scenarios for intelligent manufacturing.

Kunshan will build more than 500 smart-manufacturing demonstration factories (5G factories) and workshops by 2026.
