Town Recognizes Newest Hometown Hero

We have another Hometown Hero to introduce to you! Born in Denton, Command Sergeant Major Michael A. Castro joined the Army in June 2004. He completed basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina and completed Advanced Individual Training in Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he was awarded the MOS of 15Y, Apache AH-64D Armament, Electronics and Avionics Systems Repairer.

Command Sergeant Major Castro has completed many assignments across the country and the world. His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one Campaign Star, Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Operation Iraqi Freedom Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Award, among many others.

He is married to Rebecca Marie Castro, who is also a member of the military, and has son Michael A. Castro Jr., daughter Rhyleen Lily, and son Reign M. Castro.
