55th annual USI Juried Student Art Show on display in McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries

The University of Southern Indiana annual Juried Student Art Exhibition, a presentation of selected student artworks from the past academic year, is being held Monday, November 4 through Friday, December 6 at the McCutchan Art Center/Pace (MAC/Pace) Galleries,located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center. This year's exhibition features 101 artworks chosen by the juror from 218 entries.

The works are chosen by an expert in the field of art, invited by the Art and Design faculty for their expertise and understanding of undergraduate art works. This independent juror is brought in to assure an objective selection of artworks and awards and to provide an educational experience for students in preparation for professional careers in art.

The Fall 2024 juror is Cintia Segovia Figueroa, Assistant Professor of Photography and New Media at Murray State University. Segovia Figueroa was born and raised in Mexico City, where she worked in the entertainment industry. Her photography and socially engaged approach explore themes of immigration, displacement and bilingualism. She earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge, and a master's degree in fine arts from California State University, Long Beach.

This year's participating artists are Nico Armeanu, Alex Arwood, Catalina Baker, Rich Bennett, Abigail Bigge, Aliese Brandes, Hannah Brendel, Elizabeth Bridges, Ella Dornburg, Hannah Dupuy, Cierra Fitzgerald, Eli Fossett, Luke French, Grant Fussner, Ian Girten, Sara Griffin, Deanna Hardy, Alyssa Harlow, Ava Harmon, Ben Heeke, Daniel Heeke, Payton Henn, Katie Holloway, Aidan Hoover, Jennah Hottel, Sincere Howard, Allie Howell, Kamryn Johnson, Madison Jung, Holly Karges, Claire Kifer, John Klus, Lilly Kolb, Ava Lamey, Kenly Leavens, David Lloveras , Isaiah Lowe, Madison Mayes, Taylor McKannan, Katherine Medina-Martinez, Brandon Moore, Sarah Obermeier, Jenna Pajdo, Madilyn Piper, Jean Raines, Hannah Rasche, Angelina Redd, Anthony Reeves, Ethan Reherman, Abigail Rodocker, Geneva Sagers, Abby Scheller, Rae Spears, Ashley Staib, Gwendolyn Stuckey, Addison Sumner, Anne Teruel, Violet Thomas-Cummings, Jamie Thornsbrough, Shelby Trotter, Morgan Wade, Maxwell Wheeler, Noah Whitler, Bailee Wilson, Zachary Winger, Whitely Woolsey, Sydney Young and Kyhlee Young.

At 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 13 in Kleymeyer Hall (LA 0101), the juror will give a lecture about her design work and creative process, as well as speak about the process of selecting artworks for this exhibition.

A reception for the exhibition will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 17. This includes an awards ceremony being held in the Galleries beginning at 2 p.m. Participating artists and their friends and family are encouraged to attend.
