The Case of the Illegal Alien Who Brutally Assaulted a New York Woman

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, the House Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement released an interim reportregarding Kindu Jeancy Zamambu, an illegal alien from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who brutally assaulted a woman at a hotel in Cheektowaga, New York.

Zamambu was released into the U.S. on February 15, 2023, under the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program administered by the Biden-Harris Administration. Less than six months later, Zamambu brutally attacked a woman at a hotel in Cheektowaga, New York, on August 11, 2023, and was charged with felony first-degree sexual abuse and misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment.

Despite the Committee's repeated requests for information, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initially failed to produce Zamambu's alien file. It was only after a subpoena was issued on December 8, 2023, that DHS complied, revealing critical details about Zamambu's case and the ATD program's failings.

In July, the Committee released a reporthighlighting how the Biden-Harris Administration has funneled tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars to services supporting illegal aliens, including the massive expansion of ATD programs.

"The House Judiciary Committee's report on the tragic case of a woman brutally assaulted by an illegal alien right in our own backyard exposes the harsh reality of the Biden-Harris administration's reckless open-border policies. New York State has been a target for the criminals flooding over our borders, thanks to our state's sanctuary policies and green light laws that encourage and enable them to come here and live off of taxpayer resources without facing consequences. I want to thank Chairman Jordan and the Judiciary Committee for their tireless work in uncovering this administration's catastrophic national security and public safety failure. The American people deserve better than leaders who jeopardize their safety for the sake of scoring political points. It's time to end this madness and restore law and order at our borders," said Congressman Nick Langworthy (R-NY).
