Apparent Robbery Attempt Results in Shooting on Alabama Avenue

An apparent robbery attempt involving approximately 22 pounds of marijuana resulted in Thursday's 6:30 p.m. shooting in the 3900 block of Alabama Avenue that critically injured a 22-year-old Nashville man.

West Precinct officers responded to the scene but found no one injured. The victim drove himself to the Mapco, 1507 21st Avenue South, in his Dodge Durango where Midtown Hills Precinct officers responded and rendered aid prior to the man being transported to nearby Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. He is expected to recover from his injuries.

Officers also responded to St. Thomas Hospital Midtown where a second man had walked in with a gunshot wound to his arm.

During the investigation at the Mapco, detectives recovered a handgun and bundles of marijuana from the victim's Dodge Durango.

Multiple cartridge casings were recovered on Alabama Avenue. Detectives believe both men were injured during the Alabama Avenue incident. The investigation continues.
