ARLINGTON, Va. - Air Force Lt. Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus was officially promoted to the rank of general and assumed the duties of chief of the National Guard Bureau today. Nordhaus was confirmed by the Senate in September to serve as the National Guard's most senior officer and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Nordhaus named Army Lt. Gen. Jonathan M. Stubbs to serve as the National Guard Bureau's acting vice chief. A ceremonial assumption of responsibility is planned for later in the month.
