William Woods University announces new member of the Board of Trustees

Appointment of Fadi M. Diya is effectively immediately

Fulton, MO - William Woods University (WWU) today announced the appointment of Fadi M. Diya, a senior vice president and chief nuclear officer (CNO) for Ameren Missouri, to the University's Board of Trustees. The appointment of Diya was voted on unanimously by the University's current governing board and is effective immediately.

A veteran of 37 years in the nuclear industry, Diya, in his role as CNO, is responsible for all of Ameren Missouri's nuclear operations. He joined Ameren Missouri in 2005 as superintendent of design engineering at Callaway Energy Center in Fulton and was later promoted to plant director. In 2008, he was promoted to vice president of nuclear operations and was responsible for the safe operation of the facility.

Before joining Ameren Missouri, Diya held the position of manager of engineering at the Harris Nuclear Plant for Progress Energy. During his career, he has held various positions including plant director, design engineering manager, system engineering manager, programs engineering manager, and other positions.

Diya received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Civil Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He has a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification from Cooper Nuclear Station, has completed advanced management programs at both the University of Chicago and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and has completed probabilistic risk assessment training at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Diya has also completed numerous leadership trainings at the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), where he serves on its Executive Advisory Group (EAG), Accreditation Board of the National Academy for Nuclear Training, and its committee for Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program.

Diya and his wife, Lea, are the parents of eight children, and reside in Columbia, Missouri.
