PHOTOS: Capito Participates in West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 88th Annual Business Summit

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. - U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) this week attended the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce's 88th Annual Meeting and Business Summit where she participated in a number of events with business and community leaders. Additionally, at the invitation of Senator Capito, Kirsten Hillman, Ambassador of Canada to the United States, also participated in events at the Business Summit.

On Wednesday, Senator Capito spoke to the West Virginia Manufacturing Association Chemical Industry Committee during a roundtable discussion about regulatory and policy developments within the chemical industry that impact businesses across West Virginia.

On Thursday, Senator Capito participated in a discussion hosted by the American Clean Power Association, which consisted of federal officials, state leaders, and industry executives discussing possible ways to collaborate to increase energy development and create jobs in West Virginia.

Later, Senator Capito addressed the entire business summit, providing an update on the latest from the U.S. Senate. Additionally, Senator Capito moderated a one-on-one conversation with Ambassador Hillman where they discussed West Virginia's strong relationship with Canada. Next, Senator Capito and Ambassador Hillman convened business, state, and federal leaders for a roundtable discussion focused on ways to expand bilateral opportunities between West Virginia and Canada.

"The Business Summit is something I look forward to every year as it is an opportunity to connect with so many of the individuals that help make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family," Senator Capito said. "The future of West Virginia depends on our ability to foster a pro-business, pro-growth environment in our communities, and summit's like this one play a big part in that. While West Virginia has experienced some major economic wins, we need to make sure that we keep the focus to continue this positive economic momentum."
