Longwood management professor among 2% of world’s most-cited scientists

Dr. Vince Magnini

Dr. Vince Magnini has garnered a spot on Stanford University's Top 2% Scientist Rankings for 2024, which identifies the world's leading researchers, representing approximately 2 percent of all scientists worldwide who are making significant impacts in their respective fields.

Magnini is a professor of management and chair of the Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business and Economics. He also serves as a business consultant for the Longwood Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Magnini previously made the prestigious list representing the top 2 percent of cited scientists in the world in 2020, 2021 and 2022. His research specializes in travel, tourism and hospitality management, which includes the restaurant, hotel and retail industries.

Dr. Magnini is a widely regarded expert in the field of service sector management and this is a well-deserved acknowledgement of his scholarly acumen.

Previously, Magnini was ranked as one of the top 12 most prolific hospitality researchers worldwide. He is a Fulbright Scholar and has published seven books as well as many articles in publications including the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Service Research and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He has been cited in the New York Times and Washington Post.

Magnini has an MBA from Wichita State University and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.

Stanford's list of top scientists is based on bibliometric information contained in the Scopus database provided by Elsevier. To create the publicly available database, a group of Stanford researchers developed a ranking method based on standardized information on citations.
