Barkitecture: Tri Pointe Homes' Neighborhoods and Homes are Going to the Dogs (and Cats)

Barkitecture. Once a term used to describe the architectural designs of dog-houses, it is now used to prioritize new home features that raise the lifestyle, well-being, comfort and happiness of your favorite furry family members.

As a dog- (and cat) loving home builder in Southern Nevada, we at Tri Pointe Homes have been prioritizing pets' well-being long before it had a fancy name. When we say we are committed to our philosophy of "Life-Changing by Designâ„¢" - we've always included your four-legged sidekicks.

Take for example our "dog-friendly-showers" in the garage that make it less messy to give the pup a quick bath after an outdoor adventure. Or, the large, enclosed backyards that are not only a signature style element of our single-family homes but of our townhomes as well. Yep, Tri Pointe townhomes have backyards - practically unheard of! These happy places are a pup's delight where they have lots of room to run, play ball or stretch out in pure contentment, while you enjoy the benefits of great indoor/outdoor living. And since these yards are enclosed, they're a safe place too.

Of course, as most dog parents know all too well, running around the backyard, doing zoomies in a big family room or keeping a watch on the neighborhood through an abundance of windows is all fine, but it's a walk that truly brings tail-wagging joy. That's one of the reasons we intentionally design our neighborhoods so that each home has a park or green space within walking distance. When your new Tri Pointe neighborhood is connected via sidewalks, trails and pathways, it's easy to take your dog for a stroll where you will probably meet up with a neighbor or two on their morning or evening walks. There's also plenty of green space when walking on the trails may be too hot for your pup's tender paws.

And where might you end up on your stroll? Many of Tri Pointe Las Vegas neighborhoods like the modern townhome communities of Southridge Pointe in the southwest valley, Summerlin's Vertex, and Crestview near Skye Canyon, include resident-only dog parks. Dogs also get their own private park at the single-family-home neighborhoods of Citrine, also near Skye Canyon, and Azure Park in North Las Vegas at Tule Springs. Of course, there are an abundance of nearby people parks where dogs are also welcome.

Tri Pointe Homes' LivingSmart® technology, which come standard with every home, can help pet parents keep their pets safe even when they're not home. Via a host of smart gadgets and systems, pet cameras let homeowners monitor pets remotely to make sure that they are safe and secure. Two-way audio lets owners check in to reassure lonely pets, remind them to stay off the couch or offer good-dog praise. There are even apps for automatic pet feeders, which are also great for cats.

As part of Tri Pointe's LivingSmart program, all homes come equipped with efficient HVAC systems that not only save energy, but offer high-end filtration systems to clean the air of pet dander. Plus, the Tri Pointe Homes Design Studio offers a number of flooring options that are both ecologically- and pet-friendly.

If you think home design is going to the dogs, you're right! Here are just a few ideas to consider when designing your new Tri Pointe Home.

  • Built-in feeding stations incorporated into the kitchen island, including a pot-filler-type faucet for the pet's water bowl, keep the kitchen clean. These stations keep bowls off the floor, avoiding spills or messes while also providing an aesthetically pleasing solution that doesn't compromise style or decor.
  • Consider installing a dog fridge, especially for homeowners who serve fresh foods or subscribe to a food delivery service. This under-counter refrigerator is ideal for fresh pet food.
  • An under-the-stairs cozy dog house can be a calming, safe space, especially for dogs who are sensitive to loud noises.
  • More of a cat person? How about using space in the backyard for a Catios? These outdoor enclosures where cats can play safely and get fresh air range in size from small, single-level enclosures, to larger, playground-style with cat-friendly toys and platforms.

Tri Pointe Homes offers a range of community amenities and home designs to meet the needs of every member of your family, whether they have two legs or four.
