Motorcyclist Charged After Observed Speeding At 130 MPH On I-93

WINDHAM, N.H. - A motorcyclist traveling 130 mph was among 50 motor vehicle violations observed by State Troopers during a traffic enforcement initiative on Interstate 93.

On the morning of Sunday, July 28, 2024, the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit, in conjunction with Troopers from the Troop B barracks, conducted the initiative on I-93 southbound in Windham utilizing the State Police aircraft.

Of the 50 violations, 25 operators were observed traveling 90 mph or greater, and four operators were observed driving recklessly by speeding more than 100 mph.

At 7:01 a.m., a Trooper in the State Police aircraft observed a motorcyclist traveling southbound at an extremely high rate of speed on I-93 in Derry. The motorcyclist was passing vehicles on the right and weaving in and out of traffic. As the motorcyclist crossed into Windham, the Trooper in the aircraft measured the motorcycle's speed at more than 100 mph four times, with a top speed of 130 mph. The motorcyclist was then stopped by a Trooper on the ground and identified as Nathan D. Pratte, 19, of Bedford, N.H. Pratte was charged with reckless driving and is due to appear in Salem District Court on September 19. Three other motorists were also cited into court on reckless driving charges for traveling more than 100 mph.

The New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit focuses on enforcing traffic laws, promoting highway safety and reducing the number of crashes on New Hampshire roadways. The unit is equipped with the latest technology and tools to effectively monitor and enforce traffic laws, including the State Police aircraft.

The State Police will continue to work with its partners at the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety to conduct focused traffic enforcement efforts to reduce speeds, prevent serious crashes and improve the safety of all residents and visitors in the Granite State.
