It's time for festive foods and celebrations of thanks. With extra friends, family and loved ones gathered together, extra trash can easily exceed the capacity of your brown garbage cart. There's good news: the City is allowing extra bags to accommodate your holiday disposal needs.
Extra bags: All residents are allowed two extra bags of garbage on their first pickup day following Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. There is no added fee for this service.
The two extra bags are to be set on the curb next to your brown, garbage cart on your appropriate collection day. The bags should not exceed a standard, 32-gallon kitchen trash bag.
There will be no collections (garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk) on Thursday, Nov. 28. If your normal pickup day is Thursday, your pickup will be shifted to Friday; Friday service shifts to Saturday. Bulk collections resume Nov. 29. Normal collection schedules resume the following Monday, Dec. 2.

Reporting missed collections: Extra bags will be collected by a separate truck on your collection day, and may be picked up at different times than your carts. Please be patient and refrain from calling to report a missed collection if your extra bags or carts are not collected at the same time. However, if there is an issue, please contact the 311 Fort Worth Contact Center at 817-392-1234 or use the MyFW app.
Still need to get rid of more trash? The City has four drop-off station locations where residents can bring excess garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk waste. In observance of Thanksgiving, the City's four drop-off stations and the Environmental Collection Center will be closed Nov. 28-29 and reopen Nov. 30.
You can also opt to purchase Pay Bags. Pay Bags are available in sets of five for $15 plus tax. To order, call 817-392-1234. Pay Bags will be mailed to you and charged on your water bill.
