ODOT seeking public comment on five projects

LIMA, Ohio (Aug. 7, 2024) - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects:

ALLEN COUNTY

State Route 65 bridge maintenance over U.S. 30 (PID: 112133) -

ODOT is proposing to perform bridge maintenance and painting on the State Route 65 bridge over U.S. 30 just southwest of the village of Cairo.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures of State Route 65 and U.S. 30. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is scheduled to occur from the spring through the fall of 2026.

DEFIANCE COUNTY

State Route 66 slope repair (PID: 119861) - ODOT is proposing to repair the slope from just north of Greenler Road to the existing retaining wall just south of the Auglaize River on the south side of the city of Defiance.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to occur in the summer of 2026.

PUTNAM COUNTY

State Route 115 structure replacements and slope flattening (PID: 96615) -

The Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing a project with four construction activities along State Route (SR) 115 southeast of the village of Kalida in Putnam County. The project includes the following four construction activities:

  1. Replace the bridge carrying SR 115 over John E. Miller Ditch at mile marker 5.2, just south of the County Road Q intersection and approximately 3.8 miles southeast of the village of Kalida.
  2. Replace the structurally deficient bridge carrying SR 115 over Stump Ditch at mile marker 6.09, located just north of the County Road O15 intersection and approximately 2.3 miles southeast of the village of Kalida;
  3. Flatten the slope along approximately 250 feet of the west side of SR 115 and remove the guardrail at mile marker 8.25, approximately 0.3 miles south of the County Road Z intersection and is one mile southeast of the village of Kalida.
  4. Replace the structurally deficient culvert carrying an unnamed tributary to the Ottawa River under SR 115 at the mile marker 8.53, just south of the County Road Z intersection and approximately 0.7 miles southeast of the village of Kalida.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to occur in the spring and summer of 2027.

Work along this route may occur in the regulated floodplain of the Ottawa River. Impacts to this floodplain are anticipated to be minor and result in no rise in localized flood levels. A statement of findings detailing the results of the final floodplain analysis will be made available on the project website:

State Route 634 drainage improvement (PID: 120877) -

ODOT is proposing to add four new catch basins at the intersection of State Route 634 and Township Road E and a new outlet will be installed from the intersection roughly 1,400 feet west to a man-made ditch on the north side of the village of Continental.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to occur in the summer of 2027.

WYANDOT COUNTY

State Route 231 bridge replacement and culvert rehabilitation (PID: 105740) -

ODOT is proposing to replace the structure that carries State Route 231 over Indian Run at mile marker 10.82, about a half mile north of the State Route 231/County Highway 330 intersection and rehabilitate the culvert that carries State Route 231 over an unnamed tributary to Mile Run at mile marker 22.94, just south of the Wyandot/Seneca county line.

Construction activities will result in temporary roadway closures. Vehicular through traffic will be detoured temporarily. Access for local traffic to all properties will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction is anticipated to occur in the summer and fall of 2027.
