The County of San Luis Obispo is calling for interested community members and service providers to apply for seats on the Homeless Services Oversight Council

San Luis Obispo, CA-The County of San Luis Obispo is calling for applicants to join the Homeless Services Oversight Council (HSOC), a group of service providers, government officials, and engaged citizens that leads, facilitates, and oversees the implementation of the countywide plan to address homelessness. As the governing body for the San Luis Obispo County Continuum of Care, HSOC works collaboratively with partners across the region to increase service coordination, enhance program accountability, and ensure the efficient delivery of programs that support community members at-risk of or currently experiencing homelessness.

There are currently eight seats open for interested individuals to apply, representing diverse community sectors:

  • At Large (2)

  • Currently or Formerly Homeless Persons

  • Public Safety Organizations

  • Organizations Serving Homeless Veterans

  • Victim Service Providers

  • Behavioral Health Agencies

  • Businesses

"We encourage individuals from all sectors-especially those with lived experience, public safety background, or those representing businesses and service organizations-to consider applying," said Laurel Weir, Administrative Services Manager with the County of San Luis Obispo's Homeless Services Division. "Your voice and expertise can make a meaningful difference for the future of homeless services in our community."

HSOC plays a crucial role in guiding San Luis Obispo County's efforts to address homelessness, working with local governments, service providers, and community organizations to develop and implement strategies that tackle housing instability and homelessness. The Council convenes bi-monthly, with focused subcommittees meeting every one to two months.

Members work together to promote coordinated service delivery, improve accountability, and ensure that critical resources are directed to where they are needed most.

Applications are due by 5:00PM on Monday, October 7th, 2024. For more information on the current HSOC membership or to submit your application, please visit slocounty.gov/HSOC-Membership.
