Brazil opens market for exports to Chinese Taipei of pet foods derived from dairy products – joint note from MRE/MAPA

The Brazilian government welcomed the announcement of the sanitary approval made by Chinese Taipei for the importation of non-conventional pet foods derived from dairy products.

The pet foods market for non-conventional pet animals includes species such as turtles, parrots, rabbits, chinchillas, hamsters, and others. This approval allows Brazil to expand its dairy product exports, catering to a specific and growing segment in the global pet food market.

Chinese Taipei is an important destination for Brazilian agricultural products, which amounted to US$ 1.64 billion in exports to that market in 2023. The main items were cereals, flours and preparations, and soybean complex products. In the first half of this year, exports totaled US$ 712 million.

With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 87th market opening in the current year, totaling 165 openings in 55 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

These results are the fruit of the joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
