UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos named to NCAA Division I FBS Football Oversight Committee

The Football Oversight Committee - comprised of representatives from each divisional subgroup that sponsors football - works in conjunction with appropriate governance entities to provide solutions to issues impacting the health and safety of football student-athletes.

"We are immensely proud of her contributions and know her appointment representing the American Athletic Conference will undoubtedly prove to be an immense asset to this committee and the entire NCAA division."

The committee maintains appropriate oversight of football for both the Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision and enhances the development of the sport by advancing recommendations related to regular season and postseason football. The committee prioritizes enhancement of the student-athlete educational experience both academically and athletically, promoting student-athletes' personal growth and leadership development.

The committee also supervises procedures for licensing of postseason bowls and qualifications and/or selection procedures for the FCS Championship. It also provides direction to the NCAA Football Rules Committee regarding playing rules governing FBS football.

Campos was named UTSA's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics on November 17, 2017. She has been the architect of the rapid ascent of the UTSA Athletics program, leading the Roadrunners into the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2023. Campos' comprehensive strategic plan, the Roadrunner Game Plan, has created a culture of excellence for student-athletes both in academics and athletics, and has united the San Antonio community in support of the Roadrunners. She was one of five finalists for the 2022 Sports Business Journal's Athletic Director of the Year Award.

Campos has hired numerous elite head coaches, including football head coach Jeff Traylor. Traylor has led UTSA to a pair of conference championships, four consecutive bowl game appearances and the first bowl win in program history last season. His winning percentage of 73.6 is best among all active Group of 5 head coaches with at least three years of head coaching experience.

This past February, Campos announced a $57 million investment, thanks to strong institutional support, fundraising efforts and newly identified financial opportunities, into facilities and capital projects. In early 2025, UTSA will break ground on a $35 million basketball and volleyball training facility. Over the next five years, UTSA Athletics will also construct player development centers for both baseball and softball, a nutrition performance center for all student-athletes and a covered football pavilion.
