Portable Battery Program, Golden State Rebates Help Qualifying Customers Save on Energy Bills

PG&E offers a variety of ways to help customers become more energy-efficient and save money on their monthly bills. This week, we're helping qualifying customers access backup portable batteries and energy-efficient products so they can make cost-effective improvements at home.

Check the Savings Center tab each week to learn more about the additional programs PG&E customers can benefit from right now to save money.

  1. Golden State Rebates: This is a statewide program that provides residential residents with instant rebates on energy-efficient products including smart thermostats, air conditioners, and water heaters. Homeowners and renters are eligible to receive these rebates through single-use coupons they can redeem in-store or online at participating retailers. You must live in a single-family, multifamily, or manufactured home to qualify. To get a coupon, visit: com/coupons. You can also call (866) 258-4937 for additional assistance.

  2. Portable Battery Program (PBP): The program offers extra support to those who are reliant on electricity for medical needs. Through the program, qualifying customers can receive backup portable batteries. These batteries can help power medical devices, assistive technology, and durable medical equipment during outages.

You may qualify for the PBP if you:

  • Rely on a medical device, assistive technology or durable medical equipment
  • Are a Medical Baseline or Self-Identified Vulnerable customer
  • And have experienced:
    • At least one Public Safety Power Shutoff since 2021 or
    • Five or more Enhanced Powerline Safety Setting outages since 2022
