Thomas E. Szejko has joined Waynesburg University as Vice President for Finance and Chief Operating Officer, the University announced today.

"We are pleased to welcome Mr. Szejko to Waynesburg University," said President Douglas G. Lee. "Mr. Szejko is very familiar with the current landscape of higher education, and his expertise in this field will be a valuable asset as we continue to ensure that quality, Christian education remains accessible to all qualified students."

With more than 30 years of finance experience in both higher education and beyond, Szejko will oversee and strengthen business objectives, budget, and financial reporting; allocation of resources; analysis and projections; and institutional operations in his new role at Waynesburg University.

He will also serve as a member of the executive management team and work collaboratively with the executive team to provide strategic guidance, long-term planning and operational leadership in support of the University's mission and strategic themes.

"While I have been at the University for less than a week, I am impressed by several initiatives and offerings. Since 2000, Szejko has worked in higher education, serving in various leadership capacities in the finance field at both Washington & Jefferson College and Carlow University, including Interim Vice President for Business and Finance and CFO, Controller, and Director of Financial Reporting.

He has also held various roles at an accounting firm and served as the controller for Allegheny Country Club.

Szejko's professional affiliations include the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania and the University Risk Management and Insurance Association, among others. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Robert Morris University.

Mr. Szejko currently resides in Canonsburg.
