Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, a long-time advocate of combating domestic and international human trafficking, issued the following statement calling for continued action in the fight against human trafficking.

"On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we are reminded that 28 million women, men, and children are enslaved in labor and sex trafficking right now. As the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I am dedicated to fighting this crime. I was a lead cosponsor on several anti-trafficking bills, including the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act, which passed the House earlier this year, and the Stop Human Trafficking in School Zones Act, introduced by staunch anti-trafficking advocate, the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. We must never stop fighting to protect the innocent and bring their perpetrators to justice."
