Kaleida Health long-term care facilities, DeGraff Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility and HighPointe on Michigan, have each been recognized as a Best Nursing Home for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report.
Since 2009, U.S. News' annual Best Nursing Homes ratings have assisted consumers in need of either short-term rehabilitation or long-term care for themselves or a family member.
Both Kaleida Health facilities earned their U.S. News Best Nursing Home status by achieving a rating of "High Performing," the highest possible rating, for Short Term Rehabilitation. DeGraff was one of two nursing homes in Buffalo to earn a second "High Performing" score in Long-Term Care also. U.S. News gives the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those that satisfy U.S. News' assessment of consistent performance in quality measures. This is the second year both facilities have received this distinction.
"We are honored to have both of our facilities recognized by US News and World Report as a Best Nursing Home," said Beth Hughes, president, Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute and Long-Term Care at Kaleida Health. "This award puts our team's delivery of high-quality compassionate care for our residents among the top nursing homes in the state and across the country."
For the 2025 edition, U.S. News rated almost 15,000 nursing homes on nurse staffing, patient outcomes and if steps evidenced to avoid harm and improve health were implemented into nursing home routines for their residents.
To calculate the Best Nursing Homes ratings, U.S. News evaluated each nursing home's performance using a variety of quality measures obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The U.S. News Methodology Report includes detailed information used in calculating the results from data such as resident care, safety and outcomes.
