Rep. Adams Celebrates National Health Center Week & Back to School Community Health Fair

CHARLOTTE - Joined by Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., the C.W. Williams Community Health Center, Inc. (CWWCHC) hosted its 10th Annual Back to School Community Health Fair during National Health Center Week 2024 at the Stratford Richardson YMCA today.

'Community health centers are a vital source of medical services for families who often live in healthcare deserts. What a jewel the C.W. Williams Community Health Center is for our district, treating and serving our families, focusing on health, education, and nutrition," said Rep. Adams. "I'm thankful to partners like C.W. Williams that keep our community healthy."

The event featured back-to-school giveaways, free basic healthcare services like screenings and vaccinations, vendor booths, music, free food, games and prizes. National Health Center Week is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America's health centers over the past five decades. The C.W. Williams Community Health Center, Inc. (CWWCHC) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit that serves low-income patients with a wide range of healthcare services. Each year, CWWCHC treats over 15,000 patients.

In addition to Rep. Adams, the event included NC Rep. Becky Carney, NC Rep. Terry Brown, NC Rep. Nasif Majeed, Mecklenburg County Commissioner Vilma Leake, Charlotte City Councilwoman LaWana Mayfield, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education Member Thelma Byer-Bailey, and Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Fred Smith.

Congresswoman Adams also joined the Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Center at their National Health Center Week celebration in Concord on Thursday.
