Blackburn Renews Call for Secret Service Director Cheatle to Resign Following House Oversight Committee Hearing

July 22, 2024

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) released the following statement calling on U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign after her testimony during the House Oversight Committee hearing on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump:

"By Director Cheatle's own admission earlier today, the attempted assassination of President Trump was the 'most significant operational failure of the Secret Service in decades,'" said Senator Blackburn. "Director Cheatle has clearly shown that she is not up to the task of accomplishing the Secret Service's zero-fail mission, and she must resign immediately."
