Celebrating Legends and Legacies: A Recap of PVAMU’s 2024 Homecoming Week

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Oct. 28, 2024) - Homecoming 2024 at Prairie View A&M University was a week to remember, packed with events that celebrated the University's rich history, dynamic student body and accomplished alumni. With the theme "Legends and Legacies," the week highlighted the individuals and traditions that have shaped the Institution's enduring legacy.

Day-by-Day Highlights:

  • Sunday: The week began with a powerful performance of The Amen Corner in the Anne Campbell Black Box Theatre, followed by a spiritually uplifting Gospel Fest headlined by Maranda Curtis.
  • Monday: The energy continued with Student Market Day, showcasing student entrepreneurship, while the evening was filled with excitement for Panther Madness, the official kickoff for the Men's and Women's Basketball teams. At the same time, P.I.T. Knowledge, hosted by the Braden Real Estate Group, captivated audiences with insightful discussions and knowledge-sharing.
  • Tuesday: Attendees enjoyed a creative twist with the Mathematics Paint and Sip, followed by a show of incredible talent during the Talent Show.
  • Wednesday: A mix of tradition and fun, Super Hump Day brought students together at Holland and Gaines Park, leading into the elegant Royal Coronation, a cherished tradition honoring this year's Homecoming King and Queen.
  • Thursday: Faculty and staff enjoyed the outdoors during a Happy Hour/Concert. The day ended on a high note with an electrifying Homecoming Concert featuring Vickeelo and Rob49.
  • Friday: Alumni were at the heart of the day's events. The Golden Anniversary Class Lunch honored the Class of 1974, while the Miss PVAMU and Mr. PVAMU Reunions added a touch of nostalgia. The day concluded with the National Alumni Association Banquet and the exciting Stage Breaker Step Show.
  • Saturday: The pinnacle of Homecoming Week was Saturday. The Homecoming Parade and Tailgate Experience, brought the streets of Prairie View to life. Attendees flocked to the stadium for the Homecoming Football Game against Texas A&M-Commerce. The day concluded with the Club 1876 Finale, celebrating the bonds formed at PVAMU.
  • Sunday: The week wrapped up with a Campus Clean-Up, showcasing the University's commitment to service.

PVAMU's 2024 Homecoming Week featured a wide array of events, and while these highlights capture just a few, the entire week was a testament to the strength of tradition, community and the lasting legacies of PVAMU's faculty, staff, students and alumni. As PVAMU continues to grow, this year's homecoming served as a powerful reminder that legends are created here, and legacies continue to thrive.
