Fire Station 5 Resiliency and Recovery Update

Fire Station 5 Resiliency and Recovery project, located on 2.11-acres at the southeast corner of Fountaingrove Parkway and Stagecoach Road is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Construction was initially authorized to begin in November 2023, however, work was delayed due to an unusually wet winter. After the pause, site grading commenced in April 2024, and since then, the Design-Builder has made significant progress. Key accomplishments include completion of rough grading, relocation of underground utilities that conflicted with the planned fire station, and installation of water and sewer lines from the main in the street to the building site.

Currently, the team is focused on constructing site retaining walls, laying under-foundation utilities, and preparing the ground for the building's foundation. Weather permitting, the foundation is expected to be completed in late 2024, with building framing set to begin in early 2025. The project is slated for completion by the end of 2025.

As a special component of the project, artist Po Shu Wang's proposal, "Intersecting Infinity," was selected for a public art installation at the new Fire Station by the City's Art and Public Spaces Committee in May after a thorough public review process. This 8-foot stainless steel sculpture, symbolizing a phoenix rising, represents the community's resilience and renewal following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. The commemorative sculpture will be integrated into the front landscape, enhancing the overall design of the station.

Once construction of the new station is complete, the Santa Rosa Fire Department crew stationed at the temporary facility on Parker Hill Road, will transition to the new 8,690 square-foot Fire Station 5 located on the corner of Fountaingrove Parkway and Stagecoach Road.
