City water conservation program named 2024 EPA WaterSense Partner of the Year

On Thursday, Sept. 26, the City of Flagstaff Water Conservation Program was named 2024 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense Partner of the Year. Awards were conferred at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference in Las Vegas, Nev.

WaterSense and its more than 2,000 utility, manufacturer, retail, builder, and other organizational partners make it possible for consumers and businesses to save water, energy, and money by producing and promoting water-efficient products, homes, and programs. Since 2006, WaterSense partners have helped save 8.7 trillion gallons of water and $207 billion on consumer utility bills.

The EPA praised the City of Flagstaff Water Conservation Program for its creative outreach and educational programs. Outreach events included the annual Chocolate Walk, a scavenger hunt with local nonprofit organizations to promote water conservation, trivia nights, and a documentary screening and presentation focused on WaterSense labeled products during Northern Arizona University's Better World Film Series. Through these events, the Conservation Team gave away free WaterSense labeled efficiency supplies and Home Water Check-up Kits. They also issued rebates on nearly 4,000 WaterSense labeled fixtures to Flagstaff residents.

The City of Flagstaff is committed to helping residents and community members conserve water. For information on how to improve water efficiency in your home or business, email [email protected].
