"As the sun sets this Friday, October 11, Jewish communities in Alberta and around the world gather for Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This solemn day is a time to look within, seek forgiveness and make amends with others and with God. It is a day marked by heartfelt prayer, fasting and contemplation, as Jewish people seek to elevate their spirits and purify their souls.

"This sacred day also serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the Jewish people, who come together to renew their faith and to seek God's mercy and blessing. By embracing humility and honesty, Yom Kippur is a profound opportunity for individuals and communities to emerge stronger and more united.

"To all who are observing Yom Kippur, may your prayers be heard and your fast be meaningful.

"Hear O Israel: the L-rd is our G-d, the L-rd is one."
