Greenberg Traurig Finalist for 4 2024 New Jersey Law Journal Legal Awards

NEW JERSEY - Sept. 5, 2024 - Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has been named a finalist in four categories for the 2024 New Jersey Law Journal Legal Awards. The firm is recognized for the Diversity Initiative award and Litigation Department of the Year - General. Additionally, Shareholder Barry J. Schindler is a finalist for the Innovators award, and Shareholder Ian S. Marx is a finalist for the Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony Oct. 29 at Park Chateau in East Brunswick.

The New Jersey Law Journal Legal Awards aim to honor outstanding individuals and organizations in the legal profession, focusing on those who have made significant contributions and are advancing the industry. The awards are designed to recognize excellence and innovation within the legal community.

Schindler is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig's Global Patents and Innovation Strategies Practice - a group of over 100 attorneys and agents registered with the USPTO who handle over 4,000 domestic and foreign applications a year. He has over 30 years of legal experience in virtually all aspects of patent prosecution and intellectual property protection, representing numerous major companies and startups regarding patents and trade secrets and managing their worldwide patent portfolio in such relevant technical areas of AI and machine learning, AgriTech, FoodTech, Fintech, cloud computing, chemical, pharmaceutical, material science, and medical devices. Schindler has obtained hundreds of U.S. patents for his clients, and has worked with foreign counsel in China, France, Germany, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Russia, and the United Kingdom, among others, to obtain foreign patents for firm clients.

Marx, who is pro bono coordinator for Greenberg Traurig's New Jersey office, is a business litigator with varied and wide-ranging experience in the area of complex commercial litigation. He provides clients with representation and advice concerning a variety of disputes. Marx's courtroom experience includes appearances before numerous state and federal courts, bankruptcy courts, the surrogate's court, arbitration tribunals, and in mediation proceedings.
