Construction on North Fairfield Road to Begin in August

Resurfacing and widening improvements are scheduled to begin in August along North Fairfield Road, stretching from Pentagon Boulevard to the I-675 ramps. The project, designed to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow, includes removing deteriorated sections of the roadway, replacing the median, upgrading guardrails, and conducting minor widening along the I-675 northbound exit ramp. Once these improvements are completed, the roadway will be repaved.

To minimize disruptions to drivers, construction has been scheduled during evening hours. Between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., North Fairfield Road will be restricted to one travel lane in each direction. During daytime hours, two through lanes will be open to traffic in each direction, as well as all turn lanes.

The project will be conducted in two phases. The inside lanes will be repaired first, followed by work on the outside lanes. This strategic approach aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety throughout the construction period.

This $1.76 million project is funded by $939,888 in federal funds and $826,592 from city street levy funds. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of November.
