Removing transportation barriers to counseling

(Tiffin, Ohio) Firelands Regional Medical Center Counseling & Recovery Services received a $5,000 grant from The White Family Charitable Fund to address transportation barriers for mental health services in Seneca County.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health disorders and financial burdens have significantly increased. There are community resources to help patients afford mental health services, but not everyone qualifies for transportation assistance. This grant will fill the gap, allowing Firelands to cover taxi fares, public transportation costs or gas cards for Seneca County patients.

The grant was awarded by the board of trustees of The Tiffin Community Foundation, established thanks to the generosity of the late Sherman and Virginia White, longtime residents of Tiffin.

Firelands Counseling & Recovery Services provides counseling and substance use treatment to individuals in Erie, Ottawa, Huron, Sandusky, Seneca and Bellevue counties. For more information, visit firelands.com/findhope or call 419-448-9440.
