NU Education and Counseling Alumni Speak at Professional Development edCamp

New and veteran counselors and teachers, including alumni Caden Johnson, '23, Laura Feind, M.S.Ed. '19, and Jenna Patterson, '22, presented mini professional development sessions for undergraduate education students in Kadie Beamer and Rich Vittoria's Elementary Methods courses on Nov. 6. The Professional Development edCamp was intended to help students prepare for their final semesters before graduation. Presentations focused on a number of topics, including preparing for student teaching, what to expect in your first years, laugh your class off, utilizing school-based mental health staff in your classroom, preparing for interviews, lesson planning, and more.

At the conclusion of each presentation, the students were given the opportunity to ask questions, get clarification, and gain some additional knowledge on some of the things they will encounter in the coming semesters.
