Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting - 1600 Block of Linden Avenue - On Sept. 25, 2024 at approximately 5:29 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Linden Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gun shot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and treated the victim for his injury. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a male adult suspect were in a verbal dispute which escalated when the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled in a vehicle to a residence near the 2000 block of Chestnut Avenue which he refused to exit. Officers established a perimeter and attempted to call out the suspect. SWAT resources responded to the scene and attempted to deescalate the situation. The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing

  • Stabbing - 3900 Block of Woodruff Avenue - On Sept. 26, 2024 at approximately 1:52 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a stabbing victim. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was near the 3900 block of Woodruff Avenue and was in a verbal dispute with a male adult suspect which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The victim self-transported himself to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to the upper body. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer's arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
