World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

A message from the Lord Mayor, Councillor Sarah Duffy.

"Today, Sunday 17 November, is the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council would like to join with many people around the world in remembering families and friends who have lost someone in a Road Traffic Collision.

On this day, we acknowledge the work of support groups who help families and survivors deal with bereavement, trauma, grief and loss, as well as mental health issues, isolation and loneliness.

So far this year across the region some 57 lives have been lost to RTCs and I am so sad to say that 10 of those have been in our Council area.

Let us reflect for a moment on those tragically killed, and in particularly those who live or work in our Borough who have lost family members as a result of an RTC.

Each victim has their own story of that day, which their relatives, friends and acquaintances carry in their memory always.

Therefore today, on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2024 we remember you all.

Thank you"
