Community Music School of Webster University Named International Top Program in Early Childhood Music Education

September 12, 2024

The Community Music School of Webster University (CMS) has been named a Top Program by Kindermusik® International, the world's leading provider of music-based education for infants, toddlers and young children.

The Community Music School of Webster University is a Kindermusik Accredited Educator which has been serving St. Louis area families since 2013. The Kindermusik Top Program award recognizes excellence in spreading the power of music and movement to young children and their families through Kindermusik's curricula.

"These Accredited Educators and their teams work tirelessly to not only reach more families with the power of shared musical play, but to teach parents and caregivers how to use it after class so that the learning continues," said Scott Kinsey, CEO at Kindermusik International. "Their ability to continuously connect and facilitate these joyful 'a-ha' moments is something that really sets them apart."

The Community Music School joins the elite company of the top early childhood music programs that offer Kindermusik classes around the world and has been awarded Top Program status every year since 2019. Program leader Crystal Chu-Sharp began providing Kindermusik in 2020 and is now joined by accredited educator Elizabeth Smith. Chu-Sharp assumed leadership responsibility last year after the retirement of long-time instructor and coordinator Maureen Bolain.

"We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all supporting families of the Kindermusik program in St. Louis and neighboring areas," says Chu-Sharp. "It has always been our goal to serve our community by providing the best early childhood music program in St. Louis. We are thrilled to announce that our program has been awarded the prestigious Top Program status this year. We remain committed to continuously exploring new possibilities in curating educational programs and designing curricula that best meet the needs of our St. Louis community. We are dedicated to creating a friendly, professional and educational environment for our students, and we look forward to continuing to serve our fellow St. Louisans and neighboring areas."

The Community Music School continues to register for their fall semester of Kindermusik classes available in Des Peres and Webster Groves. For more information, visit webster.edu/kindermusik.
