ITS Enhances Security with New Identity Verification Measures

To increase the security and protection of our users, ITS has implemented a new identity verification procedure for Duo to safeguard personal information and enhance data security when updating Duo phones or troubleshooting Duo phones.

Starting immediately, if clients are trying to change their Duo phone number, upgrade to a new phone, or Duo has stopped working on their phone, individuals should first visit https://2fa.utk.edu/restore and utilize UT's online tools for repair and upgrade.

If online tools don't work, individuals must contact the Service Desk to verify their identity. This can be done through a video meeting in which the customer presents their UT Health Science Center ID for verification. Customers can also visit the Service Desk in person and show their UT Health Science Center ID.

This new procedure reaffirms ITS's commitment to protecting individual privacy, promoting digital safety, and maintaining a secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
