State Police in Auburn arrest a Port Bryon man for felony animal ...

Press Release

On July 8, 2024, troopers from SP Auburn received a complaint of animal cruelty that occurred on Fuller Road in the town of Port Byron.

Subsequent to an investigation, it was determined that Jeremy J. McNair, age 22, of Port Bryon, NY, allegedly threw a 13-week-old kitten, causing it to have severe physical injury, severing its spinal cord and causing internal injuries. McNair failed to provide medical attention. The kitten was taken to a veterinary clinic by the Fingerlakes SPCA and State Police. It was then determined that the kitten would likely never regain voluntary function and was subsequently euthanized.

On August 5, 2024, McNair was arrested for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (E Felony) and two counts of Torturing or Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Sustenance (A Misdemeanor). McNair was processed at SP Auburn and taken to Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Fingerlakes SPCA, Brookside Veterinary Clinic, and Cornell University College of Veterinarian Medicine Animal Health Diagnostic Center.
