Recording your notary commission in Philadelphia just got simpler. It used to be that after you recorded your notary commission with the City of Philadelphia Department of Records you had to go to the Office of Judicial Records to register your official signature in the "Notary Register." No longer!
As a result of a change to state law, notaries can now register their official signatures with the City of Philadelphia Department of Records at the time they record their notary commission. Notaries are no longer required to register their official signatures with the Office of Judicial Records. The Records Department will now maintain the Notary Register under state law, and the Office of Judicial Records will have access to it.
This streamlined process will make the experience of recording your notary commission more convenient by providing a one-stop shop at the Department of Records.
