As the fall and winter months approach, the Sacramento County Department of Public Health (SCPH) emphasizes the importance of preventing respiratory viruses, including influenza, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). These viruses circulate year-round but peak during "cold and flu season."
Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent serious illness. To get vaccinated:
Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone aged 6 months and older. RSV vaccines are recommended for specific high-risk groups.
