Customers Will Have to Tap Into Their Ticket Buying Skills and Move Swiftly To Secure a Genuine Limited-Edition Sign; Available for the First Time in Two Variants, Historic District Brown, and Sunset Pink.

NEW YORK - New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez today announced a limited number of authentic, commemorative Cornelia Street signs are for sale to celebrate the Greenwich Village's significance to pop music fans. As part of the agency's monthly 'sign drops,' the Cornelia Street signs are hand-made at the NYC DOT Sign Shop, which produces over 70,000 signs each year.

A limited edition of 200 signs, 100 signs in 'Historic District Brown,' and 100 in 'Sunset Pink' will be sold online for $75 each and are available one per customer. All signs will be sold via the CityStore, the Official Store of the City of New York, and proceeds will benefit the city's general fund.

"Music lovers from around the globe visit Cornelia Street and now they can own an authentic piece of this street, heartbreak and nostalgia not included," said NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. "We look forward to our next monthly sign drop, which allow all who love New York City to celebrate the people, places, and special occasions that make this the greatest city in the world."

"Don't just walk Cornelia Street, own a piece of it with this limited-edition sign that pays homage to music that has been inspired by this city. Thanks to our partners at NYC DOT, this sign is available exclusively at our NYC CityStore - home to everything authentically New York," said NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services Commissioner Louis A. Molina. "These sign drops have become a true collector's dream with an opportunity to own part of the culture and identity that makes New York City a timeless classic."

Monthly sign drops feature signs for iconic New York City streets, commemorations of famous New Yorkers, celebrations of special occasions, and other custom releases. NYC DOT began its monthly drops in June, with the release of Christopher Street/Stonewall Place street signs to commemorate Pride Month. In July, NYC DOT released Beastie Boys Square street signs to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the hip hop group's landmark album Paul's Boutique. Signs in both drops sold out within hours of their release.
